Fliers at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport can now check out an interactive, touch screen display aimed at educating consumers about IBM’s Smarter Cities initiative, which launched in December.

The installation (in JFK’s terminal 8) is, naturally, state of the art, including gesture-triggered activation, audio, video and a text to mobile ‘call to action’ feature.

On display through September 24th, it explains how IBM envisions technological and analytical improvements to urban transportation, energy & utilities, public safety, healthcare, education and economic development. Given its separate press release ranking “commuter pain” and traffic congestion hotspots around the world, those improvements can’t come too soon.
