Coming soon, but not to TV or a cinema near you: YouTube-exclusive series “H+ The Digital Series,” premiering Aug. 8th with new episodes on subsequent Wednesdays, which takes viewers on a futuristic journey where technology has gone horrifically awry and the human race is hardwired to the Internet.
The plot: in a not-too-distant future, the world’s population has retired its cell phones and laptops in favor of stunning new device by Hplus Nano Teoranta, an innovative technology company that has found a way to connect the Internet to the human mind 24 hours a day. A morality tale about the limits and ethics of technology, when a virus is released, a third of the world’s population die instantly and the series delves into the political and human mayhem that ensues.[more]
Helmed by Bryan Singer (producer of “The Usual Suspects” / “X-Men: First Class”), the live-action web series that debuts August 8th on YouTube is directed by Stewart Hendler, “Sorority Row,” and stars Alexis Denisof, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Amir Arison of “Law & Order: SVU,” and David Clayton Rogers, “Jane By Design.”
“Our first venture into the digital space gives us the freedom to engage fans with new content that is immersive, interactive and is tailored to be enjoyed online,” said Singer. “H+ The Digital Series on YouTube provides us with a strong two-way dialogue with our fans, creating a deeper and ongoing connection.”
Beatriz Acevedo, Doug Greiff, Lance Sloane, Marc Berliner, Bill O’Dowd, James Henrie, Philip Von Alvenslenben and John Cabrera serve as Executive Producers. The series was created and written by John Cabrera (“Gilmore Girls”) and Cosimo De Tommaso and is produced by Warner Premiere, Bad Hat Harry Productions and Dolphin Digital Entertainment, and distributed by Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.
According to a press release, series will be previewed at YouTube’s Comic-Con event on Friday, July 13, followed by a panel with actors and producers. Producer John Cabrera commented at last year’s Comic-Con that H+ was originally a TV pitch that made its way to Warner Bros. digital. Cabrera prefers to call it “a digital project” than a web series, one that will redefine entertainment.
