“Speechless,” the newest domestic violence and sexual assault ad campaign from the NO MORE movement lobbying the NFL and professional sports on domestic vioence, has released new PSAs in its series of celebrities and athletes: Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank and the cast of Law and Order: SVU, including a standalone spot with Mariska Hargitay, whose involvement took her behind the cameras, too.[more]
The new spots were directed by Hargitay, and also feature her Law & Order: SVU co-stars Chris Meloni, Ice T and Andre Braugher, in addition to Swank, Tim Gunn, Mary J. Blige, Debra Messing and Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro.
The organization has been focused on pushing the NFL to change its domestic violence and sexual assault policies, and the new wave of PSAs use unscripted outtakes from shoots for its original celebrity-packed ads in the “Anthem” campaign that have been on every NFL broadcast since October 23, as Ad Age reported.
No More’s programming has been one of the biggest public service efforts ever on U.S. TV, with participation by more than 80 notables and with more than a billion viewer impressions. The new “Speechless” spots were teased during Thanksgiving Day U.S. telecasts and begin regular rotation this week.
The NFL this week issued tougher new domestic-abuse guidelines as part of its stricter personal conduct policy that was unanimously approved by team owners, and will undoubtedly continue to give support and wide berth to NoMore.org and the campaign.
