Digital payments now account for USD $3 trillion being moved each year, with that number expected to rise to USD $8 trillion by 2020. Interbrand’s Best Global Brand PayPal has been at the forefront of the fintech movement, acquiring money transfer sensation Venmo in 2013 and continuing to innovate and find new ways to bring people and money together.
At Interbrand’s recent 2017 Best Global Brands event in New York, we took some time to speak with PayPal’s President and CEO Dan Schulman for more insights.
Schulman’s background spans executive leadership roles at AT&T, Priceline, Virgin Mobile and Sprint—becoming President of PayPal in 2014 after the company spun off from eBay. In the video conversation below, he shares how PayPal intends to democratize financial services, making access to easy and affordable financial services products and technology their top priority.
Consumers increasingly want to associate themselves with brands that want to do good, Schulman notes, and PayPal has made great strides in associating its brand with its purpose. On the technology side, PayPal has innovated by becoming an open platform company but has also made diversity and putting women in roles of leadership a top priority.
