New Grownup Burger Recalls Grownup Film Moment

The words burger, Heidi Klum and bourbon aren’t generally found in the same sentence, but that’s changed now that Carl’s Jr. will become the first fast-food chain to release a burger branded by a liquor. The Jim Beam Bourbon burger will start being sold Monday night and to celebrate the moment, the chain has turned out a sexy ad featuring supermodel/businesswoman Heidi Klum reprising one of American film’s sexiest characters, The Graduate’s Mrs. Robinson.

In it, Klum seduces the camera and her naïve young male costar while chowing down on a massive Jim Beam burger. (Don’t worry, teetotalers. Unlike the famed Mrs. Robinson, the burger is alcohol-free.)Continue reading...

Kia: The Little Brand That Could (If Hyundai Would Let It)

Kia Motors America has been the fastest-growing car company in the United States over the last five years, and that vibe continued in April: Kia sales were up 1 percent for the month over a year earlier for its best ever April sales, even though, like all auto brands, it had three fewer "selling days" during the month.

Yet like every other month, Kia's accomplishment probably won't get as much attention as another fact from the April sales reports: Hyundai, its sibling brand, also posted a 1-percent increase for the month.

That's just the way it is for Kia, whose biggest shareholder (and competitor) is Hyundai. The Seoul-based brands share a chairman and much of the guts of their vehicles. Both Hyundai and Kia also sell mostly small, fuel-efficient cars. But from those commonalities, the two brands diverge sharply.Continue reading...

It was bound to happen. Several months after LeBron James took an intense amount of, um, heat because the Miami Heat failed to win the NBA Championship after all his braggadacio, the professional basketball superstar has begun to try to rehabilitate his reputation.

Humor is the medium he chose; that's not surprising either.

But it is interesting that his latest endorsement deal could go a long way to make up with certain fans: McDonald's campaign for its 18th annual co-branded Monopoly game promotion, which is impossible to avoid on Twitter today.Continue reading...
