Here's to the many brands that have been stepping up in the wake of Hurricane Sandy's devastation on the U.S., providing everything from money to food to power and their employees, products and services to help disaster relief efforts. A partial list of charitable first-responders follows (and if we miss any, please let us know in the comments):
AT&T will extend late-payment windows for wireless and wireline customers, waive late payment fees and not disconnect services because of non-payment, and in an unprecedented open-network arrangement with T-Mobile, will enable roaming to customers of both companies in the impacted areas. AT&T wireless customers can make a $10 donation (up to $50) for Hurricane Sandy relief by texting to relief organizations. AT&T and T-Mobile also joined forces on a wireless roaming agreement, while Verizon Wireless is offering free charging for all cellphones.Continue reading...

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney aren't the only ones who want the votes of women this fall: Chevrolet is also pursuing women for the new Malibu, and so the brand has enlisted designer Isaac Mizrahi to get some fashion-forward attention for a vehicle that hasn't been known for being on the cutting edge of couture.
Mizrahi has designed a preppy collection (in patriotic colors of red, white and blue) of Chevy Malibu-inspired clothing, Malibu Style. It's exclusively being sold on the LivingSocial deals website, with its six pieces ranging from a bright blue totebag to an oversized watch, at prices ranging from $78 to $298.
The New York-based Mizrahi has colllaborated in the past with the likes of Target and QVC, but this collaboration aims at getting women to take a closer look at a nameplate that otherwise might not get their attention.Continue reading...

Levi's launched its first ever global collection during its Fashion Week debut this week. At its New York Fashion Week show, held in Soho, models were shown getting dressed, riding bikes and other vignettes from daily life in addition to walking the runway in key looks from its first official Fall/Winter 2012 collection.
The collection (by head designers Jonathan Kirby and Jill Guenza; see their inspiration boards here) is "based on a more refined and tailored look, for both men and women. The designs were inspired by the idea of craftsmanship, honesty and authenticity — honoring tradition while defying convention, redefining the norm and re-crafting and re-creating iconic Levi's styles."Continue reading...

Gentlemen: Have you ever met your girlfriend for a date only to notice that she’s wearing an article of your clothing, perhaps one you had given up hope for ever finding again? And ladies, have you not raided your significant other’s closets, cabinets – even laundry pile – for that certain style and feel – even the smell – of his manly garments? Women borrowing men’s clothes – appropriating, wearing, stealing – is standard vernacular in the language of love.
Now what if someone could find a way to really cash in on it?
Molly Raney and Kathryn Hobbs, the whip-smart entrepreneurs behind shoplesnouvelles.com, are doing just that – with the introduction of The Men’s Shop, a “selection of must have mens pieces form our favorite designers along with some treasured vintage finds…” They say the clothing in their Men’s Shop is “for your boyfriend, your lover…or you!”
Note that the copy never targets men themselves, choosing instead to acknowledge that little secret: women love to dress their men – and to dress in their men’s clothes. The link to the recently launched Men’s Shop is enticingly titled “boy meets girl.”Continue reading...
