DailyCandy's Swirl Offers Designer Tastes For Savvy Shoppers

Posted by Sara Zucker on November 13, 2009 12:45 PM

Online shoppers will be thrilled to learn that DailyCandy, the website known for newsletters alerting of sample sales, has created its own sample sale website. The members-only site, called Swirl, will carry designer clothing and accessories for up to 80% off.

The online sales market has become increasingly crowded and increasingly popular. One of the many, Rue La La, just sold for $350 million to GSI Commerce, an e-commerce company which specializes in managing the sites of major retailers like ToysRUs.com and Zales.

Sites like these have the ability to transport the exclusivity of designer sample sales onto the Web, thus, to a wider audience. Only current members can invite new participants, and each day brings new sales.

DailyCandy aims to keep Swirl separate from the rest of the competition by selling only items that have been hand-picked by DailyCandy editors. The hope is that this ensures the merchandise will be less random than what a visitor would find on other rival sites.

Swirl is set to soft-launch on November 16 and officially kicks off this January. The first sale will be of knitwear from Alisha Levine and goes live on Thursday, November 19. At the moment, the site is sparse, but it's never too early to sign up and start your bargain hunting.
